RANZCR, in partnership with DetectedX,
have collaborated to produce a series of
on-demand education modules (e-modules),
available free to RANZCR members. In the
education series, learners are introduced
to Occupational Dust Lung Diseases and
equipped with skills in chest imaging to
improve diagnostic accuracy.
There are a total of seven modules and a
set of practice cases. The opening modules
introduce the background and
pathophysiology of a range of occupational
lung diseases, practical imaging
principles across CT and chest X-rays, and
the application of ILO and ICOERD
classification systems. The later modules
consider occupational causes of lung
cancer and differential diagnosis between
coal workers' pneumoconiosis, asbestosis
and mesothelioma and other
asbestos-related thoracic
diseases.
This work was produced with support from
the Department of Health, Disability and
Ageing to back the delivery of key
initiatives from the National Dust Disease
Taskforce Final Report. The educational
content was developed through the
collaboration and expertise of DetectedX,
Professor Catherine Jones and the RANZCR
Occupational Dust Lung Disease Steering
Group (Dr Dinesh Varma, Dr Janu Pirakalathanan, Dr Siavash Es'haghi & Dr
Stephen Melsom).

RANZCR and ANZSTR have collaborated to
produce a series of on-demand education
modules (e-modules),
available free to RANZCR members. The
e-modules are a self-contained, self-paced
suite of
materials that have been developed out of
the ANZSTR/RANZCR Lung Cancer Screening
Working Group
and presented in an approachable, tailored
package that will take any radiologist
through all
the detail needed to report confidently
for the NLCSP.
For those
who have attended an NLCSP workshop, they
stand as an
ongoing resource to return to when
increasing depth of knowledge of material
covered on the day.
Content covered in the e-modules includes
participant referral, measuring and
interpreting
nodules, additional findings management,
structured reporting and the use of
artificial
intelligence software.
We would
like to note
that the entire e-learning suite is
not yet complete,
with one more additional lecture series
being made available before the launch of
the Program on
01 July 2025. We will also be launching a
case library of complete CT cases for
users to
practice what they have learned from the
webinars, workshops and e-modules. The
case library
will launch soon.
Click the Access DetectedX button below to access the online education platform.
- If you have an existing account, please read the DetectedX User Guide (link below) and use the enterprise code "Nlcsp-19022025-BADD" to access the e-modules.
- If you do not have an account, please fill out the registration form.
Users will be able to claim CPD hours for completing the e-modules.
- For completing the whole set of 9 lecture series, users can claim up to 10 hours CPD. The complete set of 9 series is not currently available. The last in the series (covering AI) will be made available over the next few weeks.
- For completing the currently available 8 series, users can claim up to 9 hours CPD.
- For completing an individual lecture series, users can claim up to 1 hour of CPD. (Series 6 provides information on the NLCSP Nodule Management Protocol, an essential component for radiologists participating in the NLCSP. Users can claim up to 2 hours for completing Series 6.)
To confirm a user has finished a lecture, the user must click the "Finish" button. This will add the lecture to the user's Completed Module List. The Completed Module List can be saved as a PDF and used as proof of completion when applying for CPD.
Please ensure you have completed all sections in a series before applying for CPD hours. CPD can be claimed as you normally would apply to the College. We suggest submitting all e-learning work as "Self-directed learning: journal, web-based".
As we approach the launch of the Program, we continue to work with DetectedX to refine and improve the platform. We have added a quick feedback survey to the DetectedX platform. We ask users to please complete this once you have completed the currently available set of modules on the platform.
The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) have granted permission for RANZCR trainees to complete the RACP Australian Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Maori Cultural Competence and Cultural Safety resource. This course includes in-depth content, video scenarios, reflection and discussion activities, and recommended further resources.
This course is available for all RANZCR members. Clinical Radiology and Radiation Oncology trainees are required to complete the course in Phase 2. New Zealand members are required to complete CPD activities with a focus on cultural competency and health equity, this module meets this requirement.

This online course utilises videos, online lectures, e-books, case studies, and interactive modules to specifically provide medical imaging professionals with fundamental knowledge and skills in research methods. This course will enable you to create answerable research questions, effectively search the medical literature, distinguish between different research methodologies, critically appraise evidence, interpret statistical data, and implement research in practice.
This course is a requirement for Clinical
Radiology trainees and is required to be
completed by
the end of Phase 2. It is highly
recommended that the course is completed
in Phase 1, and all
trainees will be enrolled for free during
their Phase 1 of training.
This course is available
for all other RANZCR members to enrol at a
fee.
All new trainees will be
automatically enrolled in the course
within the first 4-6
months of training. Trainees will receive
an email from Monash Education with the
subject line
'Welcome to Research Methods for Medical
Imaging Professionals' with a registration
link.
RANZCR trainees will be offered this
course at this time for free and will have
six months to complete. If trainees need
to re-enrol after this period, it will be
at their own cost.
